Our story
We launched the 16th Street Alliance to mobilize residents, business owners, and community advocates to support our Mission District corridor and build a neighborhood where everyone thrives.
We need to stabilize the neighborhood as street conditions have gotten out of control and we need the City’s attention and help. We will address challenges head-on by bridging divides, amplifying local voices, and engaging directly with city officials to implement immediate, practical solutions that enhance safety and reinvigorate our shared spaces.
Our coalition draws strength from our neighborhood's diverse cultures, transforming the 16th Street corridor into a place where safety, economic vitality, and cultural heritage flourish together. Join us in creating a community where all neighbors can prosper.

We run a yoga studio named Haum on 16th and Mission. Lately we've had several students complain about feeling unsafe coming to and from class and many have unfortunately stopped coming to our Mission location. Our buzzer has recently been vandalized with a blow torch, we have had several trespassers in the building and it's unfortunately not infrequent that we have to turn away people using drugs in our doorway before classes start. We just want to see our studio and neighborhood thrive!
